Background

The client is a digital engineering firm delivering advanced engineering services and secure, scalable digital environments to Department of Defense programs. Its teams build and sustain software supporting mission-critical defense capabilities, working under the schedule pressure and oversight typical of defense acquisition programs.

The Need

The client needed a large-scale GitLab Ultimate environment to support a growing engineering organization working across multiple programs. Two requirements ran alongside the platform itself. First, the licensing structure had to align with how the organization was funded and how its programs were scoped, which made a straightforward seat count insufficient. Second, the client needed confidence that the environment would be properly maintained over time. For a firm delivering software to defense customers, platform reliability translates directly into program delivery risk.
